What happened

On June 17, 2020, Quaker Oats said it would drop the Aunt Jemima name and image because the brand’s origins were based on a racial stereotype. That was a company admission after more than a century of sales. PepsiCo had just announced more than $400 million over five years to lift Black communities and increase Black representation. The brand also pledged at least $5 million over five years. In February 2021 the products returned as Pearl Milling Company.
