On June 30, 2020, Netflix said it would put 2% of its cash—about $100 million at the time—into financial institutions and organizations that support Black communities, arguing that Black-owned banks hold a tiny share of U.S. banking assets. ABC News quoted the CFO on narrowing the racial wealth gap.
Later company accounts said the $100 million had been fully allocated to six institutions including Hope Credit Union, LISC, and OneUnited Bank. Fox Business, quoting Netflix, noted the $100 million was more of an investment than a donation.

Mixed. Parking corporate cash in Black-serving lenders is a real, specific move. It is still Netflix’s money on deposit or in notes, not a $100 million donation.
