What happened

In 2020 Intel pledged $1 million for anti-racism nonprofits. A year later it told CNBC it had made $1.2 million in grants, including to NAACP LDF and the National Urban League, and had committed $5 million over five years for a tech law and policy center at North Carolina Central University, an HBCU. It also set a goal to raise Black senior representation 30% by the end of 2023.

Those figures are company-reported through CNBC. The senior-role percentage is a target, not a census in this file.

The Cookout read

Mixed. An HBCU center pledge is specific. The 2020 cash is small for a chip giant. The senior-role percentage is a target. Do not add matches, grants, and the five-year HBCU number into one misleading total.
