What happened

On June 8, 2020, Comcast said it would put $100 million over three years toward fighting injustice and inequality: $75 million in cash and $25 million in media. CNBC reported named partners including the National Urban League, Equal Justice Initiative, and NAACP, and programs for Black founders. The company’s own framing also covered other protected groups.

The three-year window ran through about 2023. This file does not independently audit whether the $75 million cash was fully granted.

The Cookout read

Mixed. Named cash-and-media support for Black-led civil-rights groups is on the record. So is the fact that $25 million of the headline was media inventory, and that the program was not a Black-only fund.
