Cisco’s $5 million pledge was not fully out the door a year later

Cisco pledged $5M for racial-justice groups, then told CNBC it had sent about $2M by mid-2021 with roughly $2M still unspent.

What happened

In 2020 Cisco said it would give $5 million to racial-justice groups including EJI and the Black Lives Matter Foundation. When CNBC checked in June 2021, Cisco listed $1 million to NAACP LDF, $1 million to EJI, and $76,000 to other nonprofits, and said about $2 million of the $5 million was not yet distributed.
